Research and Exhibition Centre
Fourth Year Project
The design from this building takes inspiration from tombs of the past located in the nearby area to the building. The inspiration for the elevated exhibition space came from the idea at giants tomb with the one large rock spanning across two smaller ones. The four cores on the outside of the building came from the greenfort which is located across the road from the site. The intention with the exhibition space was to create a journey across two levels and creating a journey through the two with a ramp linking the two floor. There will also be a stairs with a seating area connected to it which will double as an auditorium space. The ramp and seating area geometry will be reflected on the underneath side which will be visible from the large void. The materiality in there will be wooden on the flooring to contrast the concrete on the walls The outside will be made of concrete panels and timber fins. The windows in the building will be set back from the walls to provide added depth to the facade.
